Dallas – September 2, 2011 – The Association of Chinese
Professionals Foundation-DFW (ACP)
announces today that it is organizing a Mid-Autumn Festival Performing Arts
Show to be held on Sunday October 16, 2011, at the Charles
W. Eisemann
Center, Richardson, TX.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is a very important
traditional Chinese festival which can be compared to Thanksgiving in America.
It celebrates the harvest season and the reunion of families in the traditional
Chinese agricultural society. In addition, October 1 is also China’s National Day,
which has become a holiday week in China in recent years, adding further
festivities and family events.
The upcoming performing
arts show will feature a Florida-based Sino-Elite Group, a group of famous top notch
Chinese performers who were professionally trained in the areas of Chinese
traditional acrobatics and magic and have won gold award in many international
competitions. A well-known Chinese talk show comedian will also perform at the
show as well as three local performing groups, Wang Tao Kung Fu USA, Jiaping Shi
Dance School, and The Great Land Choral Society, which will bring stunning performances
to this event.
2011 also marks the centennial anniversary of the
1911 Chinese revolution, which brought down the Qing Dynasty, overthrew more
than 2000 years of rule by feudal dynasties, and founded the first Chinese
Republic – The Republic of China. To highlight this historical event, ACP will
also present a feature presentation from the movie 1911, provided by a successful
local theatrical and home entertainment distribution company, Well Go USA. The
movie 1911, staring Jackie Chan, will premiere on October 7 in the North
America in selected theaters.
According to Daisy Chen, ACP’s
President, this event will bring the Chinese community together and forge a
bridge to the mainstream community. “We are very fortunate to have a group of
elite Chinese performers to showcase their amazing skills and entertain people
from all walks of life, adults and children, regardless of their cultural or
ethnic background.”
“The Mid-Autumn Festival Performing Arts Show is
ACP’s annual signature event, which we have been hosting for 19 consecutive
years. It is an important bridge between the Chinese community and the
mainstream community, and also serves as a window on the varied and colorful Chinese
cultural and performing arts.” she added.
According to Charlie Yue, ACP’s Executive Vice
President and Event Chair, America’s
interest in Chinese culture and language is stronger than ever. “America and
China do matter to each other in so many different ways, and there is a natural
tendency for people in each country to try to understand each other and build
relationships. Our event will serve that purpose.”
“There will be many community
leaders, elected officials, and business and civic representatives at the
event, and it will also provide a great networking opportunity for those who
are interested in China and the many opportunities it offers.” he commented.
The ACP Foundation, a 501(c) (3) non-profit,
non-political organization, is one of the most recognized Chinese American
organizations in North Texas. ACP focuses on serving the needs of the Chinese community
and U.S.-China cultural exchange in the DFW area. It is anticipated that
there will be around 1,500 attendees at the Mid-Autumn
Festival Performing Arts Show, which will begin at 6:30 pm on Sunday, October 16. Please call (214) 575-5697 for ticket information, and (972) 836-9051 for sponsorship opportunities.
